Fruit of your choice. Depending on the size of the pudding bowl, or pie dish, you will need about 6-8 pieces of the best fruit of the season, seeds or cores removed. For berries, just load up. If using apples or pears or quinces, sprinkle them with lemon juice to avoid discolouring. We used a mix of plums and peaches.
For the batter, note equal quantities of sugar, butter, eggs and self-raising flour. Vary the weights depending on the size of the pudding required, using equal quantities.
